New Haruki Murakami Novel Comes with Stickers

The newest Haruki Murakami novel, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage, will reportedly come with a set of stickers in the U.K. to “encourage the reader to decorate the novel themselves.” The stickers are designed by five different Japanese illustrators: Mio Matsumoto, Fumio Obata, Ryu Itadani, Natsko Seki, and Shinko Okuhara.

Currently, it seems that this Lisa Frank-inspired marketing idea is only for U.K. editions by Harvill Secker. No word yet on if the next Jonathan Safran Foer novel will come wrapped in a Chipotle tortilla wrap case, or if the newest Jonathan Franzen will include frowny face warning labels to stick on everything you own that Franzen would disapprove of.
