Kelly Ramsey worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a wilderness ranger and wildland firefighter. She is the author of Wildfire Days: A Woman, A Hotshot Crew, and the Burning American West (Scribner, 2025). Her writing has also appeared in the Washington Post, OUTSIDE, Sierra Magazine, Newsweek, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the anthology Letter to a Stranger. She lives in Northern California with her partner and their daughter and dog.
