Dr Sarah Jilani is a Lecturer in English at City, University of London who teaches postcolonial literatures and world cinema. A 2021 AHRC/BBC New Generation Thinker and a freelance writer on books, film and contemporary art, her articles have appeared in ArtReview, The Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian and The Economist, among others. She is the author of Subjectivity and Decolonisation in the Post-Independence Novel and Film (Edinburgh University Press, 2024).
