Shelley Fairweather-Vega is a professional translator in Seattle, Washington, working mainly from Uzbek and Russian into English. Her academic background is in international politics, and that, plus a passion for puzzles, led her to a career in translation. Since 2006, she has worked as a freelance translator for attorneys, academics, authors, and activists around the world, concentrating at present on new writing from Central Asia. Shelley runs FairVega Translations and its sister company, FairVega Library Services, which helps public libraries build and improve their Russian-language and Ukrainian-language collections. This year marks the release of her translations of Castigation (by Sultan Raev) and We Computers (by Hamid Ismailov). See more publications and work in progress at http://www.fairvega.com/.
