About

Query letter consultations are available for query letters to agents as well as personal/artist statements for applying to residencies, workshops, or MFA programs. Please note that this consult is only for query letters and personal/artist statements. For feedback on manuscripts, please see our manuscript consultations instead.  Before enrolling, please review the full consultation guidelines, as well as our roster of editors, at this link: https://electricliterature.com/support/consultations

Editor Selection: Writers now have the ability to select which editor they prefer to work with, though selections are not guaranteed. Editor bios can be found on the consultation page.

Availability: The number of consultations is based on staff availability, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. EL members receive a 5% discount. Learn more about becoming an EL member here. Members who did not already receive a coupon to purchase the discounted consults should email editors@electricliterature.com to request the link.

Timeline: Once you have purchased a consultation, you have until March 1, 2026 to submit your materials. Each writer will receive detailed marginal notes and a 30-minute video or phone call with their editor, to be completed by April 30, 2026.

Deadline: Query letter consultations can be purchased until February 2, 2026 (or until the 8 available slots are filled). The deadline to submit materials is March 1, 2026.

-After you purchase the query letter consultation here, we will send you a private Submittable link to submit your manuscript.

-To purchase a query letter consultation as a gift, simply forward the confirmation email that contains the submission link to the gift recipient.

-In lieu of a cover letter, please include a paragraph or two about yourself to help us to get to know you and your writing progress. What are you applying to and what are your goals for applying? If this is a query letter, please let us know if this is your first time querying a full-length work, and how far along you are with your manuscript-in-progress. Is there anything specific you would like help with or have questions about?

This opportunity will also serve as an important fundraiser for Electric Lit, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Proceeds will be used to pay staff salaries, writer fees, and help us continue to edit, nurture, and publish over 500 writers annually.

Please send any questions to editors@electricliterature.com.
