Electric Literature’s mission is to keep literature a vibrant part of popular culture through digital innovation. We aim to broaden the audience for literature by supporting writers and building a community of readers, and as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we rely on reader support to achieve these important goals.

The best way to support our mission is to become a member of Electric Literature. Members enjoy exclusive content from our publication, including the entire Recommended Reading archives of over 200 issues by the best fiction writers of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Each issue is accompanied by a personal recommendation by a top writer or editor written exclusively for Recommended Reading. You’ll have access to the new issues as well; every story we publish will be free for one month before moving behind the paywall.

And because avid readers make the best writers, members also have exclusive access to year-round open submissions. Members can submit an additional 4 stories per year, at any time. Non-members can only submit 2 times per year, during designated open submission periods.

Memberships start at just $5 a month, though you are invited to give more if you are able. We encourage you to be as generous as possible; our staff is small, dedicated, and hardworking, and your tax-deductible contribution helps us pay our writers and contributing editors fairly, while offering all our new content for free.

Electric Lit, Inc. is 501(c)3 nonprofit, and membership fees are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
