Christine’s profiles, essays and travel stories have appeared in The Washington Post, Poets & Writers and Chautauqua among others, and have received awards from the American Society of Journalists and Authors. Her novel-in-progress, which is drawn from this essay, was a finalist for a James Jones First Novel fellowship. It has also received grant and residency support from the Elizabeth George Foundation, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Ragdale Foundation. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairfield University and loves working with writers to help shape their stories. She has led workshops for mid-Atlantic literary centers and the Armed Services Arts Partnership.
