Elenor Kopka writes: “I am an illustrator and animator currently based in Leipzig, Germany. After studying in France for a while I recently returned to Germany to finish my degree at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. I started working on animated films a couple of years ago to explore narrative and visual possibilities, at times teaming up with musicians and authors. I also did a couple of mini computer games in collaboration with my brother Konstantin Kopka (www.konstantinkopka.com), who is a game developer. I’m currently working on my diploma project, called Lexikon des Aberglaubens, which is going to be an animated film based on several encyclopedias of superstitious practices and rituals. Even though I’m mainly focusing on moving images at the moment, traditional drawing still plays an equally important role in my work, for one just cannot substitute the other.”
