Jessie Tu was born in Taiwan in 1987 and immigrated to Australia with her family at the age of 4. She has had several poems and essays published in online journals including Peril and Mascara Literary Review. Her poems were also published in the anthology Contemporary Asian Australian Poetry (Puncher & Wattmann). She was awarded the 2016 Joseph Furphy Commemorative Literary Prize and shortlisted for the 2017 Peter Porter Prize. In the Summer of 2016 she travelled to New York City to study with award-winning American novelist Tony Tulathimutte.
