Rachel Cohen

Rachel Cohen’s essays have appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Review of Books, McSweeney’s, the Yale Review, and Best American Essays. Her books include A Chance Meeting: American Encounters, reissued by NYRB Classics, and Austen Years: A Memoir in Five Novels. For her writing about art, she has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, and, in 2026, the Berlin Prize. She is Professor of Practice in the Arts at the University of Chicago.
