Vanessa Frances

Vanessa Frances is an Orlando-based writer working across fiction, playwriting, screenwriting, and poetry. Her work blends realism with speculative and surreal elements to explore environmental collapse, grief, intimacy, and human resilience. Her screenwriting work includes And I Will Walk You Home, supported by Film Florida’s Emerging Filmmaker Fund and slated for a 2026 festival premiere. Vanessa is also the author of Through Neighboring Windows, a collection of interconnected short stories, and Orange Island, her speculative debut novel published in 2026 by Red Rook Press, an imprint of the University of Alabama Press. A graduate of Penn State University and a 2025 Key West Literary Seminar Writer in Residence, her work is rooted in climate-focused storytelling and emotional realism.
