Rachel Lyon

Rachel Lyon is author of the novels Self-Portrait with Boy, which was a finalist for the Center for Fiction’s 2018 First Novel Prize, and Fruit of the Dead, which was named a most anticipated book of 2024 by Elle, Oprah Daily, People, and other outlets, and chosen for discussion by the NEPM (New England Public Media) Book Club. Rachel’s short work has appeared in publications such as One Story, The Rumpus, and Electric Literature. A teacher of creative writing at various institutions, most recently Bennington College, she lives with her husband and two young children in Western Massachusetts, where she cohosts the Dream Away Reading Series. She has been appointed the 2024 Paris Writer in Residence by the Paris School of Arts and Culture, the American University of Paris, and the Centre Culturel Irlandais.
